Art of Woman

Margaret Kalms is an art photographer who lives in Canberra and has a particular interest in gynaecological isssues, namely menstruation/period pain. Her work is really around advocating for women and illustrates what menstruation feels/means to women in symbolic/allegorical ways. Margarets photos aim to give women respect about their bodies by articulating a difficult subject with beauty.

"I believe my art can be a medium that can open up discussion about women's gynaecological problems in a beautiful, but provocative way".
 
Margaret has regularly exhibited in galleries in Canberra and Burrill Lake for the last few years and has had her first solo exhibition, "Period Piece" at PhotoAccess in Canberra May-June 2010. Click here to view.
