Uterine Cancer
Cancer of the uterus is the most common gynaecological cancer affecting women, and is mostly found in the age range between 50 - 70 years. The most common cancer of the uterus is that which affects the endometrium - or the lining of the uterus. This is called endometrial cancer, and the exact cause is not known. Cancer may also develop in muscle layers of the uterus.
Uterine cancer is not sexually transmitted. Other names for this disease are: cancer of the womb, and cancer of the lining of the womb.
Symptoms of uterine cancer include: unusual bleeding, and a watery, bloody, sometimes smelly vaginal discharge. Less common symptoms include: bloating and abdominal discomfort, pain during sexual intercourse, and with advancement of the cancer - tiredness, loss of weight and constipation may occur.
